These scammers and hackers are an unfortunate pitfall of the internet, and you should always exercise as much precaution as possible to avoid them (see also: How to Avoid Scams).

If you believe your wallet has been hacked by a malicious actor, the NFTb team will help you create a new, uncompromised verified account. To do so, you will need to set up a new wallet with a new seed phrase and take the necessary actionable steps to make sure your computer is secure moving ahead. All users are always solely responsible for securing their own accounts.

Note that stolen NFTs on NFTb marketplace can continue to exist outside of our ecosystem (i.e. OpenSea). In the event of a hack or art theft, you should immediately inform all marketplaces that host your work, as well as any other web3 service that you use.

If you believe your account on NFTb has been compromised, please follow the instructions below that apply to you. Try to keep calm and remember, we are here for you.

I’m an artist on NFTb and my wallet was hacked

  1. Email [email protected] with the subject line “Hacked wallet – NFTb username – Creator” if you are the artist.

  2. Using the email you have registered with your NFTb account, please provide a link to your NFTb profile and the public wallet address associated with it in the body of the email.

  3. If any works were stolen to other marketplaces, inform us at once so we can issue a scam alert on Twitter and also reach out to support of the marketplace via comms. If your artworks were stolen and published on our marketplace please include the links of the stolen artworks via email: we will blacklist any stolen NFTs from our site, which will block the user from re-entering the market.

  4. We’ll work to help suggest security tips, remove your compromised User profile account, and situate you with a fresh new artist account that displays with the verified “tick”.

I’m a collector on NFTb and my wallet was hacked

  1. If possible, transfer any remaining artworks out of your account to a new, secure wallet.

  2. We could help you hide your current account so you can move forward with a new one. If you have already contacted us regarding a compromised wallet, we’ll help start this process for you. If you have not already contacted us, please see the following step below.

I have an NFTb account, but I’m not an artist and I haven’t collected anything yet.

Please email [email protected] to request the deletion of your account. Using the email associated with your NFTb account, write “Delete my account” in the subject line and include your username in the body of the email. Once completed, you can then start a new profile with a new, uncompromised wallet and regain your original username if you would like.

How can I protect against this happening again?

As a general rule, if you want to be as secure as possible, a hardware wallet will provide the most protection possible – you may want to consider purchasing one.

It’s very important to familiarize yourself with how scams work, other new ways these scammers adopt and be extremely cautious when interacting with unfamiliar, suspicious individuals or services on the internet.

You should never reveal your seed phrase to anyone, don’t open any folder or click on any links sent to you by anyone who is interested in your artworks and please be wary of bad actors posing as NFTb Marketplace (you can find a list of our official accounts and how to identify them as legitimate here).
